Enjoy a tour through the Sacred Valley of the Incas visiting two of the most important historical and cultural centers in Cusco region: Pisac and Ollantaytambo. In Pisac we will visit the archaeological site of Pisac, famous for the inca terraces and a big ancient inca cemetery located inside the ruins. After the first part of tour we’ll have a stop to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch in Urubamba. After the lunch, we’ll continue our day of tours with a visit to the Fortress of Ollantaytambo, known as one of the last “living testaments” of the Incas in Peru because Ollantaytambo was built upon Incan fundamentals and groundworks. The Incan irrigation system still works and water runs through stone canals on the sides of streets. Ollantaytambo is breathtaking and historically exquisite. This is a full day tour and you can return to Cusco after the tour ends, stay in Ollantaytambo if you have a train to take or a hotel reservation on this same day.
Our guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby at 8 am. We will begin our journey to the Sacred Valley through a winding road around the mountains in the north of Cusco. Along the way, we will stop at El Mirador de Taray (viewpoint) to enjoy a beautiful view of the entire Sacred Valley and begin to learn about the ancient Inca history.
Then we will drive towards the ruins of Pisac. At these ruins, you will see and learn about different aspects of the Inca culture. Here you can see amazing artwork etched into the stone and the impressive agricultural terraces. After exploring this magnificent place, we will drive back to the city of Pisac where you can do some shopping!
Afterwards, we will meet for lunch in a local restaurant where we will enjoy a delicious Andean food. (This meal is included in the tour).
After the lunch, we will continue with our adventure towards the ruins of Ollantaytambo. This site highlights the remarkable Inca architecture that was built during the Incas heydays. This is an extraordinary Inca site and in addition to the ruins, you will see an amazing rock formation representing the Inca God Wiracocha. The ones who have a train to take on this day will end their tour after this visit.
You can end your trip here, around 4:30 pm or your can visit stay with the guide and visit Chinchero before we return to Cusco, arriving back around 7:30 pm, depending on the traffic.
