The tour offers a cultural experience surrounded by beautiful landscapes. The tour begins with the visitor’s pick up at their hotel at 7:50 am for transportation to the port of Puno. There you will board the motor boat that will take you to the Uros island where you will learn how the inhabitants build their floating islands. Then the trip will continue to the island of Amantani where a local family will offer a unique cultural experience (way of life, typical lunch, visit to the temple of Pachatata and Pachamama and rustic accommodation). The next day the island of Taquile is visited where the places will explain their way of weaving, crafts, traditions and history. After having lunch and visiting the stone arches, we return to the city of Puno.
Day 1: Puno – Uros Island – Amantani Island
The first day the tour begins with the tourist’s pick-up from the door of their hotel (optional pick-up from the bus terminal or from the Plaza de Armas). After that, the transfer to the port of Puno is carried out.
In the port of Puno the group will board the motor boat that in a 30-minute trip (7 kilometers) will take us through Lake Titicaca to the floating island of Uros (3,810 masl).
On the island of the Uros, the visitor will be received by the local people who will give details about the history, customs, daily lifestyle and more.
Optionally (for a cost of 10 PEN) the tourist can travel in one of the boats made of totora (native plant) through some of the more than 90 islands that make up the Uros population.
After the visit to the floating island of the Uros we will continue with a motor boat trip of 2 hours 45 minutes until we arrive at the island of Amantani (3,959 masl).
In Amantani, the local people will welcome us to lead us to a local house and teach us about their lifestyle, traditions, festivities and, of course, typical food (typical lunch included).
In the afternoon we will take a short walk until we arrive at the Pachatata and Pachamama temples, where we will also have a panoramic view of the sunset on Lake Titicaca.
At night the tourist will enjoy a traditional dinner at the home of the host family. At night there will be a small party organized by the Amantani community. We will spend the night in the lodging of a local family.
Day 2: Amantani Island – Taquile Island – Puno
The second day of the tour begins with a typical breakfast on the island of Amantani.
After that we will say goodbye to the local people to continue the trip by motor boat towards the island of Taquile (3,950 masl).
On the island of Taquile we will take a short walk (approximately 40 minutes) until we arrive at the main square of the town. There the places will receive us offering an explanation of their typical dress, their textiles, crafts, traditions and festivities.
At noon we will enjoy a typical lunch offered by a local restaurant with incredible views of Lake Titicaca.
After lunch we will take a walk through the town of Taquile where we can take pictures in its famous stone arches (with impressive views of Lake Titicaca).
After the visit to the island of Taquile we will descend to the town of the island of Taquile to board the boats that will take us to the city of Puno.
Once in the town of Puno we will take the tourist transport that will take us back to the hotel in the city of Puno (or to the main square) where at around 3 in the afternoon the 2-day tour ends.
